In the narthex (foyer leading into the Sanctuary), a blue-bulb candle? It will be lit and remain lighted 24/7, 365 days a year. The effort began back in the 1980’s when Dolly Craig wanted to honor her son-in-law, a Philadelphia police officer, who had died in the line of duty. To honor him, she placed a blue-bulb candle in her window. Over the years, the movement has grown and now includes police, fire, and 1st responders. The candle in our church’s window signals that we support those who have died in the line of duty, as well as those presently serving our communities, and hold them all in our thoughts and prayers. So when you pass the church and see the blue light, ask God to bless all who have, and are currently serving, to keep our communities safe and healthy! We are blessed and grateful.
