The Stewardship Team has begun meeting again after taking a short break during the summer so that we could rest, reflect, and return with fresh ideas and enthusiasm towards strengthening and supporting First Church.
Each year at this time we ask you to prayerfully reflect on “Who God Is” and “Who God Is To Be” in our lives. Your pledge is a reflection of your gratitude to Him (2 Corinthians 9:12 – “This Service you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people, but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God”) and it supports our ability to minister both within our walls and outside of them.
For the next couple of months we will be using the United Church of Christ stewardship theme of “What Shall We Bring?” culminating in the blessing of our pledges on Stewardship Sunday, November 18.
Stewardship is defined as the careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care. First Church is in our care. It is more than just a beautiful and historic building; together all of us make up the living body of Christ.
Last year one of the UCC weekly bulletin inserts said: “We may not believe that failure to give to the church is going to keep us out of heaven, but we certainly know that investing money in the work of ministry and mission on behalf of others improves the quality of life in our community. It also directly benefits us with a sense of purpose, overall well-being, and being a part of something that is larger than ourselves. It is good for us!”
Many thanks to everyone for your generous and continuing support of First Church. Thanks to you we can carry out His work in the world, transforming our own lives and the lives of others.
