Greetings to all.
At the Council meeting this past Tuesday evening (March 23), I was offered an extension of my contract for continuing in ministry with the people of First Church. I thought the offer was to stay until June of next year (2022). However, the offer was to stay at First Church only until June of this year (2021), about another eight weeks or so.
After much prayer and reflection, I have decided not to accept this brief extension of my contract. My final day will be the last date of my current contract which is Easter Sunday, April 4, 2021.
Thank you and may God continue to bless our mutual efforts to serve.
Peace be with us all…

It is with great admiration for First Church that I give Pastor Matt, Board Members and The Congregation my letter of resignation. I started here over 71/2 years ago and have enjoyed my time with all of you.
I feel I gave the best of what I had to First Church. I was professional, respectful, and responsible. Most importantly I believe I was the “glue” that held the church office together during so extremely trying times. I feel all the office experience in the world cannot match that, that is something called being “selfless” and loving others. This was not an easy decision, but I feel at this point it is best for me, my health, and most importantly my “INTEGRITY” that I resign.
Where one door closes another one opens, and that is exactly what has happened for me. I asked for guidance from God and I now see he has been with me thru all of this. I THANK the wonderful people here at First Church that have always believed in me and supported me thru the years. I am extremely thankful. My last day of employment with First Church in Pembroke will be Wednesday, March 31, 2021.
All my best and love to you all,

The Search interviewed a promising candidate last month. The interview took place in First Church’s sanctuary. Everyone was present except Donna joined us via zoom. We also took this opportunity to view the parsonage with the Candidate and his wife.
Once the third in-person interview can occur, the team will deliberate and then if deemed appropriate, will present the final Candidate to the congregation to deliver a sermon.

Missions for the month of March concentrated on the distribution of our Hygiene Personal Kits. We were able to put together 20 kits. Ten were donated to the Pembroke Food Pantry and 10 kits went to Firehouse Pantry.
In the kits were helpful items to be used when needed:
Kits contained: wash cloth and hand towel, soap, nail clippers, comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, shaving cream and razors also band aides.
April – Missions is calling the month of April – Good Samaritan Month. Praise God we were able to put together 10 more kits. This time it was men’s and women’s kits (and babies). These kits were distributed throughout the community to give an extra helping hand to those in need. Added to kits were diapers and baby wipes. Thank you from all of us on the Missions committee. We really could not go forward in our outreach program in Missions without your loving support. Praise God for all of you!
We received some news about the 400 Years of Faith, American Congregationalism since 1620. We were hoping to participate in the celebration in Plymouth but because of the covid a lot of activities have been put on hold. They will keep us informed and perhaps they may have a Maritime Activity Salute. We may be able to participate in this salute.
May and June – Church World Services. May is also the time when we put together our Military Basket which we give to the Pembroke Military Support Group.
Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say rejoice. Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. Do not worry about anything but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:4
