The Trustees have been meeting once a month via Zoom. In September, we met at the Parsonage. We want to take this opportunity to thank everyone that contributed their time and talents. The Parsonage and FCIP are in desperate need of a fall cleanup once again. Trustees are reaching out to the FCIP congregation to help with these projects. Join “Working for Christ” on Saturday, October 17th, as we gather between 9am – 1pm, to get a head start on the fall projects. Watch for an email blast with more details. Questions? Contact Gail at firstname.lastname@example.org or at home 781-293-9355.
A special thanks to Jim Lapham and Burt Palmer, they removed and returned everything back into the Sanctuary and Narthex so it could get painted, Not an easy task. Also, thank you to Jay Hodge, FCIP technical wizard, for everything he has done behind the scenes. If you have not had the opportunity to go to the FCIP webpage, please do so. The link is Firstchurchinpembroke.org. In the last few weeks, the Trustees, along with the Diaconate, have been working hard to make sure that FCIP is following all COVID-19 protocols. We have met with the Board of Health and had a walk through with Pastor Matt. A sanitizing machine has been purchased to use at the church. Keeping all our members safe is our number one priority; all of these steps needed to occur before our first service on October 4, 2020.
Parsonage: Is 90% done, just a few more repairs are needed for completion.
Church: We are in the process of getting quotes for painting the hallways, the
Pastor’s office, church office, bathrooms, kitchen, and Fellowship Hall. There will be more information to come.
Hanabury & Sons Asphalt Solutions: Great News!! The front and the back parking lot is being paved here at FCIP. The tentative start date is October 21st., More information to be posted.
FCIP Phone System: Over the summer, FCIP switched over from Comcast to the Ooma Phone System. The savings will be $60.00 per month. Next we will switch the Thrift Shop phone system.
Praise God our church is open. As we proceed forward slowly and cautiously with the help of our church people, Missions can now move forward with helping others, especially in our Pembroke community. Although we have been closed, Missions was still helping our food pantries. Thank you to everyone.
This month of October is “One Great Hour of Sharing”. We have always supported this program (Church World Services) and the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches also supports this program. With donations from our church congregation given to Missions, we will be able to send them $100. One Great Hour of Sharing helps with poverty, hunger, sickness, conflict, emergencies, and national disasters. It is hard times for all.
In the upcoming weeks we will be thinking of Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving Day. We will try to have something special for Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving, too.
Missions plans to meet the second Monday of the month at the Thrift Shop at 10:30 am.
God reigns over the nations; God sits on His holy throne. Psalm 47: 8
When through life’s darkened maze I go and anxious thoughts distress my soul, Grant me, O Lord, the grace to know That You are surely in control.

The Search Team has continued to meet every Monday morning at 8:30am during the summer. Starting in October, this will change to every other Monday.
After several meetings, the plan is to target Seminary Schools on the East Coast and post the profile on our Webpage, Facebook page and the different online job posting sites.
We want to take this opportunity to Welcome Back, Pastor Matt.
Please contact the Search Team with any questions via email email@example.com.
Deacons Welcome back Pastor Matt
The Deacons met via Zoom in September. This was our first meeting since the start of summer. The Deacons’ primary responsibility normally is helping the Pastor and assisting with the Sunday services within the Sanctuary. But, because of COVID, we reached out to Pastor Eric and then Pastor Terry to provide online worship services without missing a Sunday!
Many thanks to all whose hard work made this possible, especially Deacon Debi and Music Director Mary Beth on the production side and JoEllen on the distribution side.
As we cautiously return to regular Sunday worship, we remind you that attendance is limited. Please call the office to make your reservations by Wednesday. The Flower chart can once again be used to order flowers for the altar.
We welcome back Pastor Matt as the search for a settled pastor continues.
Please visit FirstChurchInPembroke.org for more information.
Happy Fall from the Stewardship Team…
The past months have been difficult for us all as we deal with the ongoing Covid-19 crisis. We want to thank everyone who has continued to support the church even while we have not been able to be together in person to worship. Services have been available online each week through the hard work of Deb Dona, Jay Hodge, Mary Beth Courtwright, Karin Foley, Ernie Evans, and others who have come together to keep our church a presence in our lives. As we cautiously return to in person worship things will necessarily be different. Services will continue to be available online. Please join as you feel comfortable and safe. Our Stewardship campaign will be beginning soon and we ask you to consider your financial pledge to First Church. We are all its Stewards and should lend our support with our Time, Talent, and Treasure.
God bless you and First Church.
