“Palm Sunday”
by Pastor Fred Meade
Sermon Summary
This is a challenging time for all of us. It is important to take time to care for ourselves, remembering that we can only make one decision at a time. Do not look for meaning in this event but rather look for the purpose in our everyday life. Know when the stress is getting to us and have a plan for self care.
Most importantly, nurture your sense of gratitude and look for the joy in your life.
Matthew 21:11-11 tells the story of Jesus’ coming to Jerusalem to celebrate the Passover. Jerusalem was crowded with all of the pilgrims who had come for the feast. Many of them were wondering if Jesus would come. He was indeed on his way. Although He entered the city in glory and celebration, Jesus was aware that this procession would not have much impact on the religious community. Yet he continued along the path laid out for Him, doing what God called Him to do. Along the road two blind men approached Jesus and asked Him to open their eyes. And so He touched their eyes and their sight was restored.
What should we be asking God to do for us now?
Jesus went to visit Martha and Mary. Once again, he was surrounded by crowds of people, all eager to see Him. We wonder how He managed to stay so focused. Jesus needed His regular prayer life and he knew that He needed to spend time alone in prayer.
Just as Jesus did not turn back, neither should we when the call of God is upon us. Listen to
God’s call to serve and live a life of integrity.
