We are eager to share with you the story of the faith and freedom that is First Church In Pembroke, a member of the National Association of Congregational Christian churches (NACCC).
First Church was founded in 1708 by 49 families, in what was then Mattakeesett. This group was ready to be God’s people in an area just inland from the sea. First Church has a famous history that includes being one of the first congregations to have a woman in the pulpit in the nineteenth century and an early respect for the native peoples of the aria. We are also the historic home of the Pembroke Resolves. Three years before the declaration of Independence, Pembroke farmers and Boston notables worked through the night to draft the first call for freedom from Great Britain. Today we build upon our Legacy as a Christian self-governed Church for the benefit of the people of Pembroke and the surrounding towns. We are an open to all who seek “The Congregational Way”
