This month First Church is highlighting the CNK Board
At this year’s Annual Meeting, it was brought to Council’s
attention that many had questions about each Board’s responsibilities at
First Church in Pembroke. Jane Hodge, our
moderator, has asked the Chairs to provide the congregation with this. Below
you will find an outline of what the CNK Board does. Thank you, Helen, for
providing the congregation with this information for March. Please remember
that we all must unite to make First Church in Pembroke the beacon of the
Pembroke Community!
Responsibilities of the CNK Board
The CNK, otherwise known as the Community Nursery Kindergarten,
has been an important part of our church community as well as Pembroke and
neighboring communities for 60 years and continues to provide a safe, enriching
preschool environment for children aged 2.9 – 6.0 years old. A volunteer board
of directors consisting of members of First Church, a parent representative,
and the school’s director meets the first Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. The
job of the Board is to hear the report of the school director, oversee the
management of the school, make decisions regarding policies of the school, and
provide open communication between the school and the church community. The CNK
pays monthly rent and utility reimbursement to the church and helps out in
various ways as needed to help with the upkeep of the church building and
premises. We can always use new members to serve on the Board of Directors. If
interested in finding out more about being a part of the Board, please speak
with any of the board members; Helen Healey, Gail Sim, Sara Davis, Ruth Ellis, Ginny Wandell and Helen McElroy.
Mark the days of Lent and the Journey to Easter
Easter Flowers: First Church needs everyone’s help to
decorate the sanctuary for the joyful occasion of Easter. The cost will be
$15.00 each. Flower Envelopes will be in
the pews.
April 02 at 10:00 am
– Palm Sunday
April 06 at 7:00 pm
– Maundy Thursday Service of Lights
and Darkness with Holy Communion with Minister Miriam Theodore. Together we
remember events leading up to our Lord’s crucifixion. The Deacons are looking
for readers. Do not hesitate to contact one of the Deacons if you would like to
be one of the readers for Maundy Thursday.
April 07 – Good Friday Lunch
– 12 2:00 pm eat in or take out the Event Committee is looking for donations
of salad, rolls & desserts.
April 09 – Easter Sunday
Service at 10:00 am – Celebrate Christ’s victory over death with
your Church Family. After our Service, join us out front for FCIP Easter Egg
Hunt.
CALLING ALL FIRST CHURCH BAKERS, YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!
The Event Committee needs your help. We are looking
for bakers to supply us with baked goods to sell on April 15, 2023, the day of the Blood
Drive. The Event Committee would
like to thank the members of First Church for your continued support. Last
year s Bake Sales was a tremendous success for First Church. Thanks to the
generosity of all of you. We could not have done it without all of you!
Red Cross Blood Drive and Bake Sale April 15,
2023
First Church is
supporting a blood drive on April 15, 2023, from 9:00 2:00 pm in honor of
Joey Birolini & Billie Hickey. Both Joey and Billie were outstanding
young men who positively impacted everyone; around them. Both young men were a
huge part of the Pembroke Community.
Please keep both families in your prayers.

CNK Board:
CNK Board will meet on Tuesday, April 04, 2023, at 6:00 pm in
Fellowship Hall.
Thrift Shop: will meet on Wednesday,
April 12, 2023, at the Thrift Shop at noon.
Deacons: will meet on Sunday, April 16, 2023, in Fellowship
Hall after service at 11:15 am. Deacons
meet on the second Sunday of the month. This meeting is available via
Zoom. Please visit

CNK Staff: will meet
on Monday, April 24, 2023, in
Fellowship Hall at 2:30 pm. CNK meets on
the third Monday of each month.
Missions: will meet on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, at the
church at 11:00 am. Missions meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month.
Trustees:
will meet on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, in Fellowship Hall
at 6:00 pm., followed by the Council meeting at 7:15
pm. Trustees and the Council meetings are on the third Tuesday of each
month. These meetings are available via Zoom. Please visit

On-Going Monthly Information
Flowers for the Sanctuary: The 2023 Flower Signup Sheet
can be found outside the Deacons Closet. Please call the office and leave a message if
you are interested in ordering flowers for a Sunday Service. Flowers are a
beautiful way to remember a loved one and celebrate a birthday, anniversary, or
occasion.
Sunday Fellowship: Thank you to all who either brought a food item or
signed up to bring one in. Please remember that these items can be
store-bought. Your generosity is appreciated. A signup sheet for this is
in Fellowship Hall.
First Church in Pembroke Steeple Lighting: If you would like to light the
Steeple for any special occasion, you can contact Joellen Graham via the FCIP
Facebook page.
First Church Office Hours: The office will be open on March 28 – 30, 2023, from 8:00 am. to
noon. Do not hesitate to contact the church office at 781-293-2584 and leave a
message. Your call will be returned as soon as possible.
Thrift Shop Hours are Friday & Saturday from 11:00 – 3:00 pm. Spread
the word about Pembroke’s hidden gem. Tell your family and friends. Why pay
retail prices? New inventory arriving weekly. Many items are on sale. Don t
miss out!
