36As He was going, they were spreading their coats on the road. 37As soon as He was approaching, near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen, 38shouting: “BLESSED IS THE KING WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD; Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!”
SUMMARY:
Jesus went to the big city. He chose to ride on a young donkey instead of a tall war horse. This showed everyone he was a humble king. Many people were very happy to see him. They sang loud songs and put their coats on the ground to welcome him. But the leaders of the city were angry. Jesus was very sad because those leaders did not understand who he was. Jesus came to the city because he loves the world. He knew he would have to die soon. He died to take our place so that we can have peace and life with God.
