“Worship in the Midst of Trials”
by Pastor Joy Matos
SUMMARY:
In her sermon “Worship in the Midst of Trials,” Pastor Joy shares the story of Paul and Silas from Acts 16:16-24. While traveling to share God’s message, Paul commanded an evil spirit to leave a slave girl who made money for her owners by telling fortunes. Angry about losing their income, the owners dragged Paul and Silas to the city leaders, who had them beaten and thrown into a dark prison cell with their feet locked in stocks. Instead of giving up, Paul and Silas prayed and sang songs to God at midnight. Suddenly, a powerful earthquake opened all the prison doors, which led the jailer and his family to put their faith in Jesus. Pastor Joy encourages us to remember that God is always with us, and we can trust and praise Him even during our darkest moments.
