Dear Church Family and Friends,
As it seems to always
happen, summer has flown by. Here we are Labor Day weekend. I hope you
were able to enjoy the warm weather, spending time with family and friends
outdoors.
Happy Fall and the beginning of a new church year.
Our focus last year, my first year as pastor of First Church in Pembroke, was on becoming A House of Prayer for All Nations (Isaiah 56:6-7; Mark 11:15-17). We continue to meet weekly on Wednesdays, 6:30-7:00 pm for our Community Prayer Meeting and on Sundays at 9:50 am to pray for the service. (All are welcome!) Our email prayer team is always available to pray for the needs we receive (prayer.fcip@gmail.com). We also focused on growing in the Word in our Sunday services and through our Alpha program, as well as learning about Congregationalism through our study of The Congregational Way of Life by Arthur Rouner.
This year our focus will be on building a strong foundation with Jesus Christ as the cornerstone. This will entail putting into practice the things we learned throughout the past year. To kick off this emphasis, I want to invite you to join me on Sunday, September 13 (a week from this Sunday), following the service, for A Conversation with Pastor Joy. This is a VERY IMPORTANT time of sharing. You won t want to miss it! I will be sharing my heart with you, and you will have an opportunity to share yours, as well. I love this church, and I believe God has great things in store. As members of the body of Christ, we need to be moving forward in the same direction, together. Please join us on Sunday, September 13!
If you have questions or would like to schedule a time to chat, please feel free to contact me at (781) 206-2252 or email me at pastorjoy.fcip@gmail.com. I love hearing from you!
We are looking forward to all that God will do among and through us in the months to come.
Grace and Peace,
Pastor Joy
